Once upon a time, there were three little piggies, and the time came for them to seek their fortunes and build their houses (like most of us when we move out of mum and dad’s house).
The first little pig built his house of straw (like that was ever gonna work) while the middle brother decided to build a house of sticks (again, the piggies are missing the whole concept of nature’s elements). They were done making their homes very quickly and without much hard work (or how we call it – easy peasy).
Unlike them, the oldest pig chose to build his house from bricks (harder work but better performance). He did not mind doing some hard work because he wanted a strong home that can stand a good fight against the big bad wolf.
When all the three houses were finished, and the three little piggies were relaxing and enjoying themselves, the big bad wolf came to visit the first house – the house made of straws. He huffed and puffed and blew the house down in minutes (easy peasy). The little pig ran to his brother’s house that was made from sticks. Again, the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and blew the house down in hardly any time. Now, both the terrified pigs ran to their oldest brother’s house. That house was made of bricks. The big bad wolf tried to huff and puff and blow the third house, but he could not. The house was quite strong, and the three little piggies were safe inside, But is a brick house strong enough?
If we take the big bad wolf, to our reality, we can convert it to a severe storm, extreme wind or cyclone. A brick house is just not enough! The brick structure will be damaged as well after a short time. Even 100km per hour firestorm will wipe it out in a few minutes. Forget about the wolf, he is not coming back but the firestorm? Oh, it always comes back with a vengeance.
The moral of the story – Never shy away from doing hard work, and hard work always pays off.
I might agree in general with this instructive lesson; however, regarding the current building industry, I can’t find a match.
The third house of the old brother should be made of reinforced concrete to prevent the big bad wolf from blowing the house down and any other natural disaster that threatens to destroy the house. Just a
bit of future thinking on behalf of the oldest brother and he could have been fully protected.
To make the house safer, the little pig should have built the house with Insulated concrete forms (ICF), to add more qualities such as firestorm protection, air ventilation control, temperature control in winter and summer and external noises block. All you need to be safe is Quad-Lock ICF.
About hard work, why not to decrease labour, cost and time with technology and innovation?
– Why building a house in 6 or 8 months if we can make it in 2 months?
– Why building a 30-story tower in 3 to 5 years if we can do it in 6 months?
– What is the reason to increase cost and labour by adding faring channel support, if we do not need it and instead all services can be inserted into the concrete or the polystyrene?
– What is the reason not to add a direct cement on the external walls and on the contrary decide to increase cost and labour by grinding 90% of the plastic?
With the Quad-Lock leading ICF innovation – we certainly have it all. No wolf will scare us, no matter how much he will huff and puff.
